Google Personalized Search

Aaron wall's blog, "Seo Book", where he discusses how to "turn off" personalized search in Google.

For those who don't know, personalized search occurs when you perform a search while logged into your personal Google account. These search results Google delivers to you are based on what the algorithm thinks you would want to know about, based on who you are.

Although things like Personalized Search are indicative of the movement toward Semantic Web - one the the applications of which may aims at delivering search results based individual characteristics - these results don't always give you a good idea of where your sites are ranking.

So, it helps to know hwo to "turn off" personalized search results.

How to Turn Google Personalized Search Results Off Without Logging Out

At SMX Matt Cutts said you can turn Google's personalized web search results off by adding &pws=0 to the URL of a search query. If you are logged into your Google Account this link shows your personalized version, while this one shows the general unpersonalized SERP.
